The book plate, which is in all copies, and serves as a colophon of sorts, is inscribed "Allan Covici from Uncle Robert". Bookplate has become detached and is now laid in. Ink from Duncan's signature has transferred lightly to the half-title, one comb has broken from the binding, a light paperclip mark on the front cover, else about Fine. A lovely copy of this children's book of sorts profusely illustrated by Jess. A Duncan rarity. A posthumous collection, published three years after Duncan's death. The portfolio was sold to benefit the Press in Tuscany Alley, the student fine press workshop at San Francisco State University; Peter Koch, director of the program, oversaw the printing.
