His most famous illustrations to Mrs. Gaskell's Cranford inspired the naming of his "Cranford School" of Illustration.Written by M. H. Spielmann and Walter Jerrold. Externally, smart with slight bumping and rubbing, leading to more moderate loss of cloth at the tail of the spine, where the front joint is also beginning to crack, the board remaining generally firm. Subtle sunning to the spine, and further light marking. Internally, mostly firmly bound with slight weakness at points throughout the text, namely surrounding pages 64, 112, 128, 144 and 193.
