Two vintage publicity photographs of Janice Jarrett by photographer Ray Jones, 1937, with four stamps on the versos, including two studio stamps, one crediting photographer Jones and one of Jarrett's name, here spelled "Janice Jarratt," a 1937 date stamp, and a provenance stamp. From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s. Named the "Sweetheart of the 1936 Texas Centennial" in Dallas, Texas, Janice Jarrett became famous as a "Lucky Strike model," and in 1936 was selected as one of the "1936 Flash Lighter Starlets." Jarrett only appeared uncredited in one film, "Kid Millions" from 1934, and is perhaps best known for her engagement to famed FBI agent Melvin Purvis, which was canceled without explanation only 3 days before the wedding. 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine.
