The first plate is the frontispiece of the collection. It is titled on the left: 'ALCUNE / ANIMALI / desegnate per / Giovanni vanden Hecke / et Intagl[ia]te per / Theod. van Kessel / An. 1654', above the title: 'G. Quineau Exc. in de Raamsteg'.
