[James Bond Book art] Giclee print of David Scutt's original jacket design for the novel Goldeneye by John Gardner. Produced from his concept artwork created for the 1995 film novelisation. The book was eventually published with photographic jacket art showing Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. Portrait format with border on fine art board, ready for framing. Signed and annotated to rear of mount in pencil by Fleming bibliographer Jon Gilbert. Approximate total dimensions 14 x 11 inches. Fine condition, ready for framing. Provenance: David Scutt illustrated the jackets for numerous James Bond novels published by Hodder and Stoughton throughout the 80s and 90s, as well as jackets for other book series including Douglas Adams' Hitch-Hiker's Guide, Bernard Cornwell's Richard Sharpe and Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials. This series and the corresponding art for' Tomorrow Never Dies' and 'The World Is Not Enough' were offered exclusively by Bond historian James M. Pickard, strictly limited to 10 prints; this example was obtained directly from Mr. Pickard and was part of the Jon Gilbert collection.

A finished painting by David Scutt entitled 'Zero Minus Ten', for the dust-jacket of the book by Raymond Benson [1997]. The final design, without titles/lettering. Approximate dimensions 145mm x 105mm, in full colour on paper mounted to artboard with acetate release sheet. Titled and SIGNED below image in artist's pencil by Scutt, with his ink chop to lower right. Conservation framed and glazed; in an elegant acid-neutral white card mount, backed with pH neutral corri-cor barrier board beneath 2mm float glass, bespoke smooth black moulding. Approx. overall dimensions 15 x 12.5 inches. Fine condition. Following Richard Chopping, Bill Botton and Trevor Scobie, artist David Scutt produced some distinctive original artwork for many of the James Bond continuation novels by John Gardner and Raymond Benson. In the 1990's he also produced striking cover designs for Coronet's re-issued series of the Ian Fleming originals. His other commissions have included the three covers for the 'His Dark Materials' series by Phillip Pullman, plus the illustration for the omnibus volume.
