And a good number of critical geotraverses need to be studied to unravel the geological complexity by detailed investigations. In this aspect this volume Geology and Tectonics of the Southeastern Ladakh and Karakoram will surely benefit the Himalayan workers especially the earth scientists who climb high to see deeper rocks of this youngest fold belt of the world. In this book A.K. Jain and Sandeep Singh have presented first a general geodynamic framework of the Himalayan and Karakoram belts as a whole covering deformation metamorphism magmatism and updated radiometric ages of the Higher Himalayan rocks from Collision Zone and to the margin of the Asian plate in the Indian sector. The text is appreciably supported by many relevant figures and photographs. This is followed by excellent geological account along several traverses and thus the book is a useful field guide wherein one can see convincingly collision related features along some selected traverses. The book is indeed an indispensable guide to geoscientists who want to know this lofty Himalaya and its northern parts since birth. 182 pp.
