Vintage reference photograph from the landmark 1970 documentary, showing directors Albert Maysles and David Maysles with Mick Jagger. Mimeo snipe on the verso. From the archive of film historian and author Joel Finler. Directed by cinema verite pioneers Albert and David Maysles and Charlotte Zwerin, the documentary follows the final weeks of The Rolling Stones' historic 1969 US tour, from performances at Madison Square Garden and Muscle Shoals, Alabama, to the legendarily disastrous and extraordinarily violent Altamont Free Concertlater described by Rolling Stone magazine as "perhaps rock and roll's all-time worst day, December 6th, a day when everything went perfectly wrong." On the recommendation of the Grateful Dead, informal security for the Altamont show was provided by the Hells Angels, leading to a number of escalating conflicts between the unruly bikers and the increasingly drunk and drug-addled hippies in the audience. The violence culminated in the death by stabbing of an 18 year-old audience member, captured in its entirety on camera, along with the accidental deaths of three others at the show. A film associated with the Direct Cinema movement of the 1950s and 1960s, but just as much with the beginning of a new style of "reactionary" documentary filmmaking, wherein the events being documented lead the film rather than the film being led by a preconceived idea. Considered by many to be the greatest rock documentary ever made, encapsulating the chaotic, bleak, and ultimately timely downfall of the peace and love era. Shot on location in Alabama, New York, and California. 10 x 8 inches. Near Fine. Criterion Collection 99.

In den Warenkorb2 parts* of 4-layer-pressed cardboard (the outer layers stronger than the inner ones, 3 mm in total), backed with fold-out stands (the lower one twice-folded for higher stability) of slightly softer 'single-wall' cardboard (2 thin layers with wave-shaped filling, also ca. 3 mm). - Upper part (from the upper 40% of the record-cover up to Mick's head): 87 x 41,5 cm (43+ x 16+ inches, widest at elbows) / Lower part (from the lower 60% of the record-cover down to Mick's feet [with plaster on the 2nd toe of his left foot]): 89 x 43,5 cm (35 x 17x inches, widest at feet); Total height: 176 cm (69+ inches). *** [Verlängerter und erweiterter HERBST-VERKAUF bis Montag, den 08.12.2025 / Ongoing and expanded AUTUMN-SALE until Monday, December 08, 2025: um über 30% REDUZIERTER PREIS / PRICE-REDUCTION of over 30%; vorheriger Preis / previously EUR 1.650,-] --- ORIGINAL PROMOTIONAL PHOTOGRAPHIC CARDBOARD DISPLAY-STAND, delivered on the occasion of the 'Sticky Fingers' LP-record release, the Rolling Stones' first studio album without Brian Jones. - *) According to auction-descriptions the (here) two parts were a folded single-part item, but regarding the cardboard's thickness(es) it is difficult to image how they would not crack at the fold immediately once folded (if not equipped with a special joint). The connecting edges of this copy are slightly rubbed and/but do not look like ever have been connected; the connecting edges of the (original) mounted stand are stronger rubbed and might have been connected once; difficult to surely decide. --- Unfortunaltely the head once has been bent backwards which results in a crack of the photographic paper-surface (right at Mick's tight collar) and a bending-crease at the rear; this part is stabilized with a loose cardboard neckbrace (definitely not matching any medical standards). The neck and the waist are each vertically somewhat-rubbed obviously from (the removal of) 5-cm tape to stabilize (neck) or connect (waist) the figure from the front. The bottom-right part of the waist (on the record-cover) lacks the photographic surface-paper on ca. 1 x 11 cm; at the very top of Mick's hair are a 2 small and a few smallest, partly frayed, holes, at least the 2 parallel small ones obviously formerly used to pin the figure onto another kind-of stand. The photographic paper-surface of the right leg is slightly wavy below the record-cover (thigh) and minimally at the knee. 'Shallow shadow' over the left lung (ca. 10 x 8 cm, what did he smoke during that period?), humidity-stain at the left shoulder (ca. 8 x 3 cm), rearsides of head and of right shoulder with larger humidity stain; right thigh and record-cover appear a little sunned, few smaller spots and another slightly frayed kind-of pinhole between ankles and feet, lower sharp-cornes of the stand frayed as well. OVERALL SOMEWHAT USED BUT COMPLETE SET OF THE IMPRESSIVE RARE MEMORABILIA. - ''Sticky Fingers is the ninth studio album by . . . the Rolling Stones. It was released on 23 April 1971 on the Rolling Stones' new label, Rolling Stones Records. . . On this album, Mick Taylor made his second full-length appearance on a Rolling Stones album . . . It was the first studio album without Brian Jones, who died two years earlier. The original Grammy-nominated cover artwork, conceived and photographed by Andy Warhol, showed a picture of a man in tight jeans, and had a working zip that opened to reveal underwear fabric. The cover was expensive to produce and damaged the vinyl record, so the size of the zipper adjustment was made by John Kosh . . . Later re-issues featured just the outer photograph of the jeans. The album featured a return to basics for the Rolling Stones. The unusual instrumentation introduced several albums prior was absent, with most songs featuring drums, guitar, bass, and percussion as provided by the key members: Mick Jagger (lead vocals, various percussion and rhythm guitar), Keith Richards (guitar and backing vocals), Mick Taylor (guitar), Bill Wyman (bass guitar), and Charlie Watts (drums). Additional contributions were made by long-time Stones collaborators including saxophonist Bobby Keys and keyboardists Billy Preston, Jack Nitzsche, Ian Stewart, and Nicky Hopkins. As with the other albums of the Rolling Stones late 1960s/early 1970s period, it was produced by Jimmy Miller. Sticky Fingers is widely regarded as one of the Rolling Stones' best albums. It was the band's first album to reach number one on both the UK albums and US albums charts, and has since achieved triple platinum certification in the US. "Brown Sugar" topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 1971. Sticky Fingers was voted the second best album of the year in The Village Voice's annual Pazz & Jop critics poll for 1971, based on American critics' votes. The album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and included in Rolling Stone magazine's 'The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time' list. . . The [cover-]artwork emphasized the innuendo of the Sticky Fingers title, showing a close-up of a jeans-clad male crotch with the visible outline of a penis. . .''(Wikipedia).

Brian Jone's exit from the band, death by drowning, and replacement by Mick Taylor is treated with erasure by omission and painted with a cheerful brush. Jone's death is not mentioned and the memorial aspect of Stone's free concert in Hyde Park in which the band paid tribute to their friend and former bandmate is presented as the joyous introduction of Mick Taylor to an enthusiastic public. Very Good. Light yellowing along left side edge of pages with light wear to corners including a gentle crease to top right corner of biographical press release. On second set of pages "The Rolling Stones" is highlighted in yellow ink. Additional bumping of corners and 1.5 cm. and 6 mm. of yellow staining to recto, otherwise clean and unmarked.
