In den WarenkorbBerlin. Printing Arthur Scholem. 1923. 8° Original Cover. Corner stone of the eminent Kabbalah scholar of the 20th century. The book contains Scholem's doctoral thesis at Ludwig Maximilains University in Munich and as such its the first major work on Kabbalah. The edition was printed in a small limited number for family and friends - by Arthur Scholem, his father, at the family's printing house. Our copy is inscribed and signed by Scholem to Zalman Rovshov - who, after he changed his family name to Shazar - became 1963 the third president of the State Israel. Scholem and Rovshov were both avid Zionists who beloned to the same Jewish literary and intellectual circles in Berlin. They became close friends and in fact it was Shzar who taught Scholem Yiddish. Loosely translated, Scholem's inscription (in Hebrew on the title page) reads: "Let this be greetings to Zalman Rovshov! Berlin Shvat TRPH. Gershom Scholem." (Shvat TRPH is the Hebrew date for Februay 1929). Making this copy even more unique is a second important association inscription, from Shazar to Samson Jacob Kreutner. This inscription (also in Hebrew on the FFEP) reads: "To Mr. SJ Kreutner, please accept this book. Zalman Shazar TSN". TSN is the Hebrew date for either 1969 or 1970; at this time Shazar was president of Israel. Kreutner was a well-known, mid 20th century Zionist activist who served in senior positions at the Jewish Agency of Israel, as director-general of the United Israel Appeal and as chairman of the World Bible Center in Jerusalem. He was also a renowned author and an avid admirer of Scholem and his work. Kreutner was a close acquaintance of Shazar, who - knowing of Kreutner's respect for Scholem - probably gifted his book to him in recognition of his Zionist activities. The book is an very good state. Sprache: Deutsch. *** Bitte kontaktieren Sie uns immer BEVOR Sie bestellen!
