Sir Joshua Jebb (1793-1863) served in the Royal Marines and the Royal Sappers and Miners; his later career included work for the Home Office connected with the design and construction of prisons like Broadmoor and Pentonville. He was the author of several works on penitentiaries as well as companion volumes "Practical Treatise on Strengthening and Defending Outposts" and "Practical Treatise on Duties at a Siege". (ODNB).…
