Jean-Louis Forain (1852 - 1931) was a French Impressionist painter and printmaker, working in media including oils, watercolour, pastel, etching and lithograph. Compared to many of his Impressionist colleagues, he was more successful during his lifetime, but his reputation is now much less exalted.

A captioned tissue guard with each plate. Slight edge wear at spine, a tiny bit of discolouration of insignificant consequence on front e.p. And title page. Modern Masters of Etching 1.

Hard covers, grey boards, black lettering spine and front label designed with book name etc, very minimal edge ware, small dint on the back board, small losses on the top and bottom of the spine. This hasn't affected the pages inside. No jacket, has plastic clear wrapper. Inside there are 7 numbered written pages, made of cardboard and have age spotting that hasn't affected the writing or 12 tipped in B&W etchings. Half title page, and there is tissue paper over most of the etchings. Given age the book is in a very good condition overall.

Book has slight foxing to page edges and to some pages not affecting plates. All tissue guards present. Dust jacket has some loss to front at bottom right ( not affecting illustration ) small loss to rear top and to and bottom of spine, some marking mainly to rear and some small closed tears. Not price clipped. Now in a clear removable protective sleeve. It has done a great job protecting the book and is still attractive.

Contains 12 printed pages of text followed by 12 tipped-in paper-guarded and mounted monochrome plates. Small chips to the spine ends, foxing to the title page and next two pages, without any marks or foxing to the plates which are in Very Good clean condition, no dust wrapper. Member of the P.B.F.A.
