Hardcover. Zustand: Fine condition. First edition. Signed "S UNT" and hand-numbered 46 (of 100) on colophon. Total edition of 350. Oblong Octavo. Unpaginated, with matted original photograph and tissue guards laid in. Original lime green cloth with brown lettering on cover and spine, housed in original burgundy cloth slipcase. Gray-brown endpapers. Silk ribbon laid in. "For some years Susan Unterberg has been seeing double with her camera from her bold early diptychs of fathers and sons; to her abstract landscapes, which make us feel we are looking out over the side of a boat at still water, solacing ourselves, while seeing the gleam of our own image mixed up with pebbles, roots, rocks and sky; to her most recent "Double Takes," in which two frames fool us into believing they cannot be one. To my knowledge, the last is the first instance of this phenomenon in American photography." (Henri Cole). Illustrated with twenty-six color photographs with mats bound in, dividing each photograph into two images. With twenty-six poetic descriptions by Henri Cole at rear. Slip case with minor wear.
