The book traces the colony's history, describes its current situation with regard to trade, manufacturing, the harbour and its relationship with China, and discusses its political situation. It also examines the Portuguese communities in the Far East and tourism in Macao.?Jaime Correa do Inso was a notable figure not only for his brilliant career in the service of the Portuguese Navy, but also for his analytical mind, which led him to observe and record what he saw during the many voyages he undertook aboard some of Portugal's major military vessels. In this context, he visited distant Macao -by the standards of the time- as well as Hong Kong and Timor, in addition to Mozambique, Angola, Brazil, and other ports? (A.
