A remarkably nice-condition copy of this early Ralph Steadman illustrated book which was written by Richard Ingrams, former and original editor of the British satirical publication, Private Eye. Unpaginated, copiously illustrated including two double-page illustrations. A superb example of this pre-Gonzo work which Ralph Steadman has signed for the previous owner and improvised a sad-face doodle around the opening words of the actual text. A really Fine, clean copy in Near Fine price-clipped dustjacket, scarce thus. Signed by Illustrator(s).

Der Lokführer Grope stand seit vielen Jahren in treuen Diensten des Machtgeldriesen Guv, bis der Autofabrikant Snout auf den Plan trat. Dessen moderne Autos machten das Fahren so attraktiv, dass kaum mehr Leute den Zug benutzten. So war das Abstellgleis für den Zug und die Kündigung des Lokführers nur eine Frage der Zeit. - Herr Guv jedoch erkannte alsbald die neuen Chancen des Geldverdienens, denn viele Autos bedeuteten auch viele Menschen mit Wohnraumbedarf sowie Straßenausbau, was natürlich immer drastischere Mieterhöhung, Straßensteuer und Verbote nach sich zog. Doch als die Spirale schließlich im Chaos endete, drohte ein Bürgeraufstand ? Danach war der Lokführer Grope plötzlich wieder sehr gefragt. In deutscher Sprache. n. pag. pages. 21,5 x 28,5 cm.
