New 28.0 x 22.0cms 280pp b/w Illusts New Half calf in cloth Slipcase This facsimile compilation of rare colonial broadsides chap-books proclamations and pamphlets (as well as some simulated extracts and new illustrations) was originally published in 1951. It presents ''many of the cases that caused a sensation in Australia''s early days told in the same language as that in which the original news reached the old pioneers of the Australian colonies or the people in the English homeland''. It also reprints most of the early songs on transportation to the colonies and some of Thomas Bewick''s woodcuts. All of these166 works date from 1786 to 1857 and Ingleton has supplied full bibliographic details for each one. SALE PRICE.
