Exemplaire correct malgré les traces d'usage signalé à la reliure, un cahier détaché et la présence d'un cachet de congrégation religieuse au timbre humide sur la page de titre. 1876.

Romae (Rome) 1841, engraved frontispiece (burning of books) + xlviii + 422 pp + ca. 250 nn pp**, bound in contemporary half leather, smooth spine with gilt title, ex-library with two 19th c. library stamps on the title page. ** Bound in at the end are all the books which were put on the index after this catalogue was published (1841). Nearly every two or three months the Papal authority added new publications to the list; e.g. Decretum die 18 Augusti 1841, 16 Septembris 1841 , 28 januarii 1842 , 5 Aprilis 1842 . until 18 Februarii 1868. So over a period of over 25 years, second half of the 19th c. we can follow the steps of Papal censorship.

Bound in blind boards, covered with blue marbled paper. Sine with some wear resulting in the disappearence of the blue color, some minimal wear at binding. Still a good acceptable copywithout any provenance indications.

Eigenhändiger Brief (2 S. 8° mit blau geprägter Anschrift am Kopf) in Tinte mit Ort, Datum, Initial-Signatur A.F. signiert, darunter nochmal Nachschrift gleichso signiert La Bechellerie, St Cyr-sur-Loire, 24 Novembre (1922) - an Monsieur CHAPELLE in VERSAILLES "Merci, tres cher ami, de votre bonne lettre. Il se porte bien mais Ti-co nourrit "des idées tristes et lunatiques"; il va se rendre à Paris et lui envoie un bon à payer : "Les pièces jointes à cette lettre vous instruiront des circon- stances qui m'y obligent [.] Nous allons être délivrés des deux gross- es notes qu'on nous réclamait fréque mment". (4 weitere Briefe, voll signiert, teils mit E.Briefumschlag dazu, zum gleichen Preis vorhanden : À Monsieur ou Madame Chapelle, concernant notamment l'acquisi- tion du domaine de 'La Béchellerie', où l'écrivain vivra jusqu'à sa mort en 1924. - I. (1. 9. 1914) Il annonce qu'il occupera 'La Bécheller- ie' et passera chez Me Martini pour lui donner les si gnatures néces- saires à la régularisa tion de l'achat. - II. (6. IX. 1914; Nogent-le- Rotrou, à l'en-tête de l'hôtel du Dauphi n) Il tente de se rendre à Tours pour y rencontrer Me Martini, mais la circulation est difficile en rai- son de la guerre. - III. (4. XII. 1915; La Béchellerie) Il félicite Mme Chapelle de soigner les blessés; quant à lui, il est accablé du poids de son inutilité mais garde l'espoir d'une heureuse issue de "cette terrible guerre". - IV.
