Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. CEASE FIRING BY MARY JOHNSTON ILLUSTRATIONS BY N.C. WYETH 1912 1ST PRINTING. On offer here: Cease Firing by Mary Johnston with illustrations by N.C. Wyeth. This small hard cover book (5 ½ x 7 ¾ inches 458 pages plus 2 pages of publisher s advert) was published by Houghton Mifflin of Boston dated 1912 and as I read the copyright page, I see that it is the First Printing (November 1912) of the First Edition. The book is bound in gray boards with embossed decorations and gilt titles on cover and spine. The endpapers are decorated with maps of the Southern theaters of the Civil War. There are four full color & full-page plates by Wyeth including the frontispiece. All of them are present and accounted for and are in very good condition (I checked). Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are a bit dust-dulled and the gilt titles faded and worn although still fully legible. The corners and spine tips are bumped but not too badly. Inside the book is unmarked and the pages and plates are clean and bright throughout without any toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact, but the binding is cracked at the half-title page. It is, however, still tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
