Number 191 of 1,146 numbered copies, signed by Benton. Steinbeck's Pulitzer Prize winning novel of the Great Depression first appeared only the year before this Limited Editions Club edition, which remains notable for the beautiful lithographs commissioned from Benton, the smaller than usual printing, and the unusual and fitting rawhide and grasscloth binding.

Housed in publisher's slipcase. Glassine wrapper chipped but intact. Boards show light shelfwear. Binding sound and pages unmarked. Slipcase worn along edges; title label chipped and barely legible; soiling to edges and spotting to interior; remains structurally sound. Overall a Very Good copy; scarce with slipcase and wrapper.
