It is defined as tomato leaf miner. This moth belongs to of the family Gelechiidae (Lepidoptera) and is one of the most serious pests of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) (Solanaceae) (Desneux et al. 2010). It also attacks other cultivated Solanaceae, such as potato, eggplant, peppers and tobacco (Tumuhaise et al. 2016), although Potting et al., (2013) disputed peppers as a host. Tomato leaf miner (TLM) also feeds on various solanaceous weeds (Chidege et al. 2016). Tuta absoluta was originally described by Meyrick, (1917) as Phthorimaea absoluta, based on individuals collected from Huancayo (Peru). Povolny, (1964) described it as Scrobipalpula in 1964, and transferred absoluta to this genus. Clarke, (1965) transferred absoluta to Gnorimoschema as a new combination. Experiments were carried out in two locations for determining the resistance of some soybean genotypes to the cotton leaf worm. Beside that, identification of molecular genetic markers linked to insect resistance was also done. An attempt was done to get some new resistant hybrids through execution hybridization between these cultivars. Plant height, numbers of branches and pods per plant and seed yield per plant were decreased significantly by the infestation of cotton leaf worm (Spodoptera littoralis) as compared with soybean plants grown in Giza region (non ¿ stressed treatment). Neuware -The obtained data indicated that ear length and diameter, numbers of rows/ear and kernels/row and 100-kernel weight were increased significantly by decreasing plant density from 35 000 to 17 500 plants/acre. On the other hand, increasing maize plant density from 17 500 to 35 000 plants/acre by decreasing distance between hills from 40 to 20 cm apart increased significantly grain and stover yields/acre. Harvest index was decreased from 22.25 to 21.00% in the 1st season and from 22.14 to 20.04% in the 2nd season by widening distance between maize plants from 20 to 40 cm apart, respectively.Leaf area index was correlated positively and significantly with stover yield/acre in the two growing seasons. Merr.) throughout growing ten soybean genotypes under sandy and saline soils conditions and water stress by skipping one day of drip irrigation under sandy soil conditions from flowering stage up to harvest. As a result of salinity, plant height, numbers of green leaves and branches/plant, as well as, leaves fresh weight decreased considerably as compared to sandy soil condition over all soybean genotypes with a reduction of 54.6, 67.7, 54.1 and 75.4%, respectively. Intercropping pattern 2:4 (H) gave the highest seed yield/acre as compared with those of normal population of 2:4 (N) and other patterns. Soybean variety (Giza 22) had higher values for all studied soybean parameters than Giza 111 variety. All studied parameters of intercropped soybean were increased by doubling distance between hills of maize plants from 30 to 60 cm under intercropping patterns. Leaf area and yield/plant of intercropped maize were higher than those of solid maize under the same density of maize in the ridges. Intercropping pattern 2:2 (N) gave the highest grain yield/acre as compared with the other intercropping patterns. Wider distance between hills of maize plants (60 cm apart) gave higher values for all studied maize characters. Increasing soybean plant densities under intercropping patterns (2:2 'H' and 2:4 'H') caused significant increments in soybean yield/acre and land equivalent ratio without significant reduction in maize yield/acre.
