In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: Very Good. The year is 2002, the place is South East England, normally a peaceful corner of the world. Normally. In between jobs and living alone in a quiet village on the Surrey/Sussex border, thirty-year-old Alba White is drifting through life. At the other end of the village, Hillstone Hall is in a precarious position. The elderly Lord, Edward Chapman, is in a financial hole and literally selling the family silver to keep the place afloat. Then, when during a charity cricket match, one of his own garden volunteers is murdered, things take a further turn for the worse until an arrest is made. Yet, Alba, who found the dying man and whose blood stained her beautiful white dress, is not convinced the police have arrested the right person. Suddenly she has direction, but will she discover the truth in time? Set around one man's life, we are taken from 1940s war-torn France, to the airfields of Bomber Command, to the grim interior of a prison and to the homeliness of a village pub in 2002, in a murder-mystery which will appeal to Agatha Christie fans and those who enjoy a more retro-feel to their crime stories. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

In den WarenkorbCloth. Zustand: Good. Not Stated (illustrator). The second edition of this wonderfully illustrated catalogue of the Wetherfield clock collection, which sold at auction for £30,000 on the 1st May, 1928. The second edition. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Illustrated with 76 pages of photographs of the collection of 222 clocks. David Arthur Wetherfield brought together perhaps the greatest private collection of English domestic clocks. After his death, the collection was sold, about half going to America (despite his wishes) and the remainder staying in the UK. It was particularly rich in longcase grandfather clocks, with a good selection of bracket and lantern clocks, all purely English designs. This is a catalogue of these clocks from the Wetherfield Collection, sold at auction by W. E. Hurcomb on 1st May, 1928 for £30,000. It has become a pictorial record for clock collectors wishing to date their own English clocks. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, sound, with rubbing to the extremities and spine causing small tears and a little loss to cloth. Light soiling to the cloth, heavier to the rear, with a damp stain. A little fading to spine. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright, with a tide mark to the lower page, heavier to the rear of the work. The odd additional handling mark to pages. Good. book.
