Autobiographical account of Jim "Catfish" Hunter (1946-1999), one of baseball's top pitchers in the 1960s and 70s. A North Carolina native, Hunter first appeared in the majors in 1965 with the then Kansas City Athletics (the team moved to Oakland in 1968). He was on the three consecutive A's World Series championship teams in 1972, '73 and '74 before signing as a free agent with the New York Yankees in 1975. Hunter was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1987 and passed away from ALS in 1999.
