"Here are 100 Zulu lyrics presented both in the original language and in most delightful translation and with very appropriate and lively illustrations by Eric Byrd. Though the music and the dancing are missing we have in these lyrics a vivid cross-section of the emotional reactions of the African songmaker to life's joys and sorrows. "Hugh Tracey has long been known for his intimate studies of the music, dances and stories of many of the Bantu Tribes of Southern and Central Africa. Tribes whose dances are described and illustrated include the Zulu, Ngoni, Xhosa, Sotho, Pedi, Tswana, Shangaan, Ndau, Tswa and Chopi.…
