Victorian Book Box, including 5 full black leather housekeeping Books - Visits and Addresses, Daily Journal, House Expenses, Cash Account, Personal Expenses. Believed to made from exotic Coromandel wood, with brass clasp. Interior is in black leather with sprung base, this allows the books to be pressed down, when the clasp is locked it holds the books down. Brass clasp is stamped 'Howell James & Co Regent Street London'. Measures 8.5 x 3.5 x 5 inch. Books are in full black leather with gold gilt lettering to spines, gold gilt page edges. 2 of the 5 books have writing in ink dated 1862-68. name and date of 1860 in ink to ffep of one book, wear to leather on spines. Key won't lock clasp, so books can't be held down, unsure if it is the correct key (hence lower price). (47/1).
