The Mintorns offer a service of preserving exotic and unique blooms in their first glory by recreating them in wax from life. Plants brought from countries such as South America might just survive the journey, if only to succumb in the conservatory; thus the Mintorns claim to unique creations. The present handbook gives instructions as to the method, describing 17 species. The firm has also cast alabaster vases from 'Italian and Etrurian originals' which it recommends for displaying these flowers to advantage. Wilfrid Blunt, The Art of Botanical Illustration, 1950, p246, also colourplate 44 'Roses. Model in wax by Mintorn. Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew'.
