This copy from the library of Howard Duckworth with his pencil inscription inside front cover. First edition, first impression. Green cloth boards, shelf wear to edges, tight and square binding. Photographs available on request. All books dispatched same or next working day in robust packaging.

First edition (hardback). 8vo, xv, 304pp. Portrait frontispiece. Original brown cloth, gilt titling to the spine. Extremities of binding rubbed, front board lightly stained, preliminary pages foxed, inner hinges cracked. Overall, this copy is just about in good condition.

Reprint. The 2 page introduction By Rider Haggard only appears in this 2nd edition. It did not appear in the 1st edition. Lacks front free endpaper. Lacks 4 of 18 illustration pages. Boards rather marked and worn. Inner hinges cracked and 'repaired'(roughly) so that the binding is tight. Not a nice copy but a very scarce Rider Haggard item. Used - Acceptable. Poor hardback.
