This book is part of the publisher's 'Notable British Trials' series. The first volume of the series was published in 1905, and it has now become a comprehensive library of historical and criminal trials embracing the most famous British cause celebres from 1586. This volume covers the trial of Robert Wood, known as the Camden Town Case, for a murder which took place in Camden Town, London, in 1907. Robert Wood, an artist, was tried for the murder of sex worker Emily Dimmock and acquitted after a defence by Edward Marshall Hall. The book is bound in the original red cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine and a blind-stamped publisher's emblem on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with light shelf wear to the boards and damp marking and a bow to the top 1 1/2" of the rear board. The spine ends are lightly bumped. The contents are tight and clean with a light red stain on part of the top edge and near the middle of the text block. The free endpapers are browned but there is no inscription.
