Illustrated, with over eighty plates and six folding maps. Robert Howard Hodgkin offers a history of the Anglo-Saxons in these two illustrated volumes. Volume II is found in the price-clipped dustwrapper. With fifty one plates, two colour plates, and three folding maps to volume I, collated and complete. With thirty plates to, two colour plates, and three folding maps to volume II, collated and complete. Hodgkin taught at Queen's College Oxford between1900 and 1937, and is best known for his 1949 book, Six Centuries of an Oxford College, and the present work. Lightly rubbed to the boards, with some light rubbing to the head and tail of the spine. Volume I is rather discoloured to the spine, and is a little bumped to the extremities. The wrap to volume II is a little edge word to the head of the spine and the top edge, with a small tear to the fore edge to the fore edge and to the front joint near the head of the spine. Internally, firmly bound, with bright and clean pages throughout. Very Good. book.

Covers show signs of some moisture damage (See photos). However, text blocks are both free of any sign of moisture. NO odor. Both volumes clean and bright. Price clipped dust jackets are crisp, without chips or tears. Revised price stickers just above clipped corners. But jacket for Vol. II shows signs of damp stain at top edges and upper fore-edge. The dust jacket is tanned, quite shelf rubbed and edge worn, with tears and creasing along the edges, but it remains whole and intact. The boards are rubbed but are strong and sturdy. Internally, there are no other markings or inscriptions, and the pages within are neat, crisp and complete. Tightly bound and presents attractively in cellophane. JK.
