UNA EXPEDICIÓN DE RECONOCIMIENTO (1961), constituye el relato de la expedición que el antropólogo africanista belga Luc de Heusch, realizó con los romaníes lovara en el año 1961, en connivencia con el gitano adoptivo y gitanólogo Jan Yoors y con el cineasta Henri Storck. Formado en medios contraculturales surrealistas, Heusch mantiene una actitud que podría catalogarse de orientalista, por no llamarle romántica, sobre la vida nómada, enfrentada a la existencia sedentaria común de los europeos. Esa idealización, sin embargo, va desgranándose y decantándose en el viaje, en el que Heusch comprueba la irreductibilidad de los lovara a los valores que el propio antropólogo encarna. Este libro es un hito singular en la obra del antropólogo vanguardista belga, y con-serva por ello la frescura de un viaje iniciático a la búsqueda de los valencias antiburguesas del nomadismo.
