Sue graduated from Harrison-Draughon School of Commerce in Atlanta and attended the Atlanta Division, University of Georgia. She worked in the legal department of the Coca-Cola Company and later was the bookkeeper for the family pharmaceutical businesses.; Her husband, Eugene L. "Gene" Argo (1932-2008) was a graduate of Decatur Boys High School, and served in the Korean War with the United States Coast Guard. Argo attended Emory University and graduated from Mercer University Southern School of Pharmacy in 1958 with a B.S. degree in pharmacy. While attending college, Argo began working at Stacy's Pharmacy on Scott Boulevard in Decatur in 1955. In 1960, he became Vice President and co- owner of Stacy's and in 1967, he became President and owner. Argo opened a second pharmacy, Stacy's Pharmacy at Emory Village, in 1973. After selling both Stacy's locations in 1998, Argo opened Stacy's Compound Pharmacy where he worked until his retirement. He was appointed by Governors George Busbee and Joe Frank Harris to terms on the Georgia Board of Pharmacy. ; Herman Eugene Talmadge served as governor of Georgia in 1947 and from 1948 to 1955 and as a U.S. senator from Georgia from 1957 to 1981.He began his career as a staunch segregationist known for his opposition to civil rights, including supporting legislation that would have closed public schools to prevent desegregation.[3] By the later stages of his career, following the enactment of the Voting Rights Act, which gave substance to the Fifteenth Amendment enacted nearly one hundred years before, and increased African American voter participation, Talmadge, like many other Southern politicians of that period, had modified his views on race. Talmadge was a long-serving member of the Senate Agriculture Committee as well as the Senate Finance Committee. Its interiors a tribute to the Arts and Crafts era of design, this Asheville historic hotel attracted the affluent and middle class of the early 20th Century with its reputation as a house of healing and comfort amidst the Blue Ridge Mountains. This tradition continues today as its one of a kind subterranean spa, its gorgeous sunset terrace views, and comforting natural interiors attracts visitors from all over, including many U.S. Presidents. Seminars and craft shows take place in Arts & Crafts-movement hotspots around the country. The one not to miss is the largest: a three-day conference and simultaneous antiques and juried contemporary crafts and furnishings shows, held in the Blue Ridge Mountains at the Grove Park Inn. At the shows, over a hundred antiques vendors and contemporary craftspeople fill multiple rooms and line the corridors of one wing; you'll see furniture, pottery, textiles, metalwork and jewelry, lighting, fine art But what makes this conference so special is its focus on education-deep learning. Hands-on workshops cover such things as embroidery and printmaking. Lectures are offered, and small affinity groups meet (pottery collectors, say, or people researching native plants in Arts & Crafts-era gardens). Opportunities run almost around the clock.
