Bookplate from the previous owner tipped in on the front inner board. No edition stated. Publication of 180 pages. There is gilt on the spine and on the front cover. The boards are a touch edge worn. Pencil annotations written within the body of the body of the book and several notes of interest written on the last few pages. The text remain legible. The binding is excellent. GK. A fine original colour lithograph from Vanity Fair, a magazine which was published from 1869-1914, featuring a large caricature portrait each week. These were drawn by various artists, the most famous of whom was Leslie Ward who used the 'nom de crayon' of "Spy". This portrait will come mounted/matted and ready to frame using archivist quality materials, mount size 18 x 12 inches, 47 x 31 cms. It will be presented in a cellophane wrapper with our label guaranteeing authenticity. We pack very well, between sheets of hardboard. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a portrait of Lt-Col Edmund Henderson, with the caption ''Police" with a one page biographical sheet. Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Edmund Yeamans Walcott Henderson KCB (19 April 1821-8 December 1896) was an officer in the British Army who was Comptroller-General of Convicts in Western Australia from 1850 to 1863, Home Office Surveyor-General of Prisons from 1863 to 1869, and Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis, head of the London Metropolitan Police, from 1869 to 1886.
