It initially involved encouraging female students at Qatar University in writing workshops to explore their views and voices on the page, before opening to women across Qatar. The authors are seen as a "hinge generation" between tradition and modernity. This volume thus contains numerous first hand accounts on Qatari society, wedding customs, urbanisation and sense of place, shifting dynamics within the family, etc. Also included are author and editor biographies.
