Hardcover. Zustand: Very good. Marie Heimsoth (illustrator). Presumed First Edition, First printing. The format is approximately 5.625 inches by 6.75 inches. 108, [6] pages. Color illustrations. Ink gift notation (not from author) on fep. No DJ present. Fathers and daughters share an incredible bond. Based on experiences with her father while fishing on their boat, Thanks Dad! is a heartwarming collection of life lessons Penelope J. Stokes learned from her dad. Topics covered include responsibility, risk, and courage. Penelope Stokes was born in Charleston, Mississippi, but she grew up in Jackson. From the age of four, she wanted to become a writer. Stokes's undergraduate work was completed at Mississippi University for Women (MUW) in Columbus, Mississippi, and her Delta Belles reflects her experiences there. At graduate school, Stokes proposed a creative project (a novel or collection of short stories) for her doctoral dissertation, but the committee turned her down, saying that it was impossible to earn a living as a writer. She became a college professor and taught writing and literature before deciding to begin her career as a writer. Her route to a career in writing was, as Stokes states, "Ten years of university study, culminating in a Ph.D. in Renaissance Literature." Delta Belles. Stokes moved to Minnesota after graduate school, where she lived for fourteen years. She worked as a teacher and editor while honing her writing skills. Following her time in Minnesota, she moved to Georgia, Connecticut, and back to Mississippi, before settling down in Asheville, North Carolina. She has now written over fourteen books. This book of reminiscences is filled with vignettes on responsibility, skill, risk, self-awareness, priorities, courage, independence, imagination, acceptance, gratitude, regret, success, patience, vulnerability, inner peace, contentment, exploration, and optimism.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Life is a journey full of revelations and reminders of God's love around every corner. He wants us to savor the sweet moments, trust Him through the challenges, and believe Him for a hopeful tomorrow. In this uplifting collection of poems, author Kathie Heimsoth beautifully illustrates the ups and downs of a spiritual walk with Christ. Each poem offers encouragement that will bless your daily quiet time with God and fill your hours with His perfect peace. Learn to enjoy the everyday moments of life with those you love as Heimsoth's eloquent expressions instill within you insightful perspectives of hope, faith, and relationships. Heimsoth will open your eyes to the beauty that God creates from the ashes of life's more difficult seasons, and her words will motivate you to face discouragement and death with unwavering faith in God's goodness. Inspired by both miraculous experiences and trying events from her story, as well as the life-changing moments shared with her husband, Our Journey will encourage you to embrace each day with the strength to continue your own personal journey with Christ. Discover the faithfulness of Jesus in this profound, Christ-centered devotional, and fall in love with the journey. Kathie Heimsoth began writing years ago, crafting poems on napkins, scraps of paper, or anything she could find to write down her thoughts. After she decided to finally share her poems with others, Heimsoth began to make writing an essential part of her life. When she and her husband were both facing serious medical issues, Heimsoth realized that she could help those going through similar situations by providing hope through her writing. This realization resulted in an online blog with several comments that has turned into this inspiring book of poetry. Together, Heimsoth and her husband have raised three wonderful children. She taught high school French and English and has worked as a tutor and an adult education French teacher. She then had a fifteen-year career in a large corporation, becoming the company's Assistant Vice President of Training. Heimsoth's love of education and writing has remained with her over all these years.
