cloth with dj., Zustand: Sehr gut. unpaginiert, numerous colored fotos, 40 cm, Sehr guter Zustand / very good condition. Widmung des Präsidenten der Georgetown-Universitat, Leo J. O'Donovan, für Joschka Fischer. ON THE OCCASION of its 2OOTH birthday, Georgetown University decided to commission a portrait, one that would challenge and Stretch the traditional definition. The subject was to be the university itself-too large and unwieldy to hold still for a sitting or be represented by a single image. The artist chosen for the task was Robert Llewellyn, who began his study in Dahlgren Ghapel in the winter of 1987 and finished in early 1989 in Georgetowns newest building, the Edward Bennett Williams Law Library. In the intervening two years some 5,000 images passed through his camera, which he carried from dew-soaked dawns on the Potomac banks to the open doors of helicopters tilting above the campus in slanting afternoon light. University President Timothy S. Healy, S.J., responded in words to Llewellyn s artistry with a meditation on a Bicentennial. The result is a portrait of the University at 200 - an effort to catch its people, its place, its spirit, as well as capture in images and words our sense of its promise. Since its publication, the book has earned the gold medal for book Publishing in the national competition of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, a silver medal in the Studio Magazine Awards competition, and inclusion in the annual show of the Art Directors Club of Metropolitan Washington.
