Haweis, spanning Temple's episcopate as Bishop of London and later tenure as Archbishop of Canterbury, 1896-1902. Comprising ten autograph letters signed ("F. London" and later "F. Cantuar"), mostly on Fulham Palace headed paper, with examples from Lambeth Palace and the Old Palace, Canterbury; together with three autograph addressed envelopes in Temple's hand, a five-page typed copy letter from Haweis to Temple, Haweis's five-page autograph draft of the same, and a further autograph covering letter. Letters approximately 115 x 180 mm, the typed memorandum approximately 210 x 260 mm. Horizontal folds as issued, otherwise very good throughout. A large archive documenting a long-running correspondence between Frederick Temple, one of the most influential churchmen of the Victorian era, and the celebrated preacher, lecturer and author the Rev.
