Fromm 12107.- Seltene erste deutsche Ausgabe des französischen Historiker und Abt Claude-Marie Guyon (1699-1771), der damit eine Polemik mit Jean-Francois Charpentier de Cassigny auslöste. Guyon war für einige Zeit ein Mitglied der "Congregation de l'oratoire" aber später siedelte er sich in Paris an, wo er unter anderem für den Abt Desfontaines arbeitete. - Meist etw. braunfleckig, Titel mit kl. Bibliotheksmarke, insges. dekorative Reihe.

Vol II containing an Essay Towards a History of the Commerce of the Several Nations of Europe to the East-Indies, Showing the Rise, Progress, and Present State of that Traffic; as Carried on by the English, Dutch, French, Portuguese, Swedes, and Danes; from the First Discovery of a new Route to the Indies, Round the Cape of Good Hope, to the Present Time, 595pp, folding Kitchin map at front. Both volumes have been bound in brown cloth with light brown calf spines, raised bands, black morocco title labels onset with gilt lettering, but are not quite a matched set. The pages show uniform browning throughout, but are in very good condition, very presentable and well bound, R & J Dodsley, London, 1757. * mainly India with two nice maps.
