Gurdeep Kour discusses the origin and development of miniature paintings and deals with the early portrayals, social identity of Sikhs and emergence of art in Punjab. Her book also deliberates on the features of Guler and Kangra schools and concludes that Sikh themes inspired the hill artists from the last quarter of the 17th century while the Sikh identity enthralled the Rajput rulers after a century.
