Three-colour pictorial cloth lightly rubbed at the extremities and a little sunned on the spine; edges slightly foxed; free endpapers and front and rear flyleaves discoloured (with minor loss to silverfish to the rear free endpaper); a very good copy (internally excellent). Provenance: Sir Edward Charles Stirling (1848-1919), eminent SA surgeon, scientist and politician, with his armorial bookplate on the front pastedown. Loosely inserted are three leaves of related manuscript notes in ink and pencil (one with a small sketch); we suspect these are in the hand of one of his daughters (Jane).
