E outros tantos me foram repassados por pessoas em quem ponho fé de ofício. Não posso atestar sobre suas verossimilhanças, ao passo que não ouso duvidar da sua autenticidade, porque assim estaria colocando em suspeita toda a tradição oral de uma vetusta, alegre e respeitada cidade-relíquia a quem chamo de Vovó Menina.  E ai de quem se meta nessa esparrela, pois terá que se ver com os mais arraigados defensores dessas ignominiosas facécias, tramas e zombarias de honrosa tradição. O propósito deste livro não é outro senão passar para as mais novas gerações o conhecimento da farta casuística de histórias engraçadas ou estupefatas protagonizadas por moradores da cidade ou mesmo por alienígenas que visitaram ou habitaram o Santo Torrão em priscas e não bem definidas eras. Parece-me que o bom humor anda meio em baixa nos tempos atuais. Vá se saber. Jamais foi minha intenção depreciar ou menosprezar nenhum personagem desses causos que, depois de muito tempo já selecionados e colocados sob séria reflexão, estou tendo a ousadia de publicar. Peço mil perdões a qualquer um que não aprecie as joias pitorescas de um passado alegre, gostoso e hilário do nosso querido Torrão Natal.
