Hardcover. Zustand: Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Fair. First Edition. "In a succinct and readable essay, Roger Boulet follows the trails [The Group of Seven] blazed on their sketching trips. Theirs was a quest for the rediscovery of their own country. Their work gave it new meaning. The images they created gave the country new beauty and its people a new awareness of their northern identity. Most of the paintings selected for this volume have been held in both private collections and major public galleries. The majority, however, have never been reproduced before. Those that have been made available to the public have rarely been reproduced in colour, and never with the fidelity apparent in every plate of [this book]." - dust jacket. [8]-227pp. Oblong 10.7"x13.7" Book clean and unmarked with moderate wear to blue leatherette adorned in gilt. Above-average wear to dust jacket now preserved in glossy new archival-grade Brodart. A sound copy of this wonderful work.; Art; Sm 4to. Illustrated by The Group of Seven (illustrator).

Wraps. Zustand: Good. Presumed First Edition, First printing. [8]. 1a-96 pages. Illustration. Staple bound. This document was submitted by CDR. Richard I. Walker, MSC, USN who was the AFRRI JTCG Representative. The Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute (AFRRI) is a tri-service laboratory in Bethesda, Maryland, USA, and was chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1961. It conducts research in the field of radiobiology and related matters which are essential to the operational and medical support of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and the U.S. military services. AFRRI provides services and performs cooperative research with other federal and civilian agencies and institutions. AFRRI is a joint entity of the military departments and is subject to the authority and direction of the president of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU), under the assistant secretary of defense for health affairs and the under secretary of defense for personnel and readiness. A significant coordination of ionizing radiation research and development exists within DoD. This coordination process is facilitated by the significant percentage (90%) of this work being done at AFFRI. Common areas of interest, including shock, sepsis, and bone marrow transplantation, are found between Ionizing Irradiation Research and Combat Casualty Care. These are being pursued in an integrative fashion. Research and Development was being carried out in a militarily appropriate manner for the echelons of military ionizing radiation research. The specific are addressed in this plan. The contents address the organizational components of the DOD Radiobioloby Program, the status of AFRRI research program, the STBE Contract Program, NATO Interaction with AFRRI, Army Radioprotective Drug Program, The Air Force report, a Workshop Concerning DoD Studies of Opportunistic Infections, and Memoranda of Understanding.

Paperback. Zustand: Good. First Edition. pp. 80. "Although paintings by members of the Group of Seven have been included in all major exhibitions of Canadian painting, there has been only one important exhibition devoted exclusively to their work since 1933, when the Group of Seven was merged into the larger Canadian Group of Painters: this was held at the National Gallery of Canada in 1936. The present exhibition, then, may be regarded as the second such survey. It differs from the first by the addition of works by Franz Johnston, who was a member of the Group for a short time, and Tom Thomson, who was never a member, but who has been included in this exhibition on grounds of style and association. This is certainly the first time that any major collection of the work of the Group of Seven has been seen in Vancouver." - Introduction. Includes article by Lawren Harris entitled "The Story of the Group of Seven" and an article by R.H. Hubbard entitled "The National Movement in Canadian Painting". Catalogue proper begins on page 19 and includes colour and black and white reproductions of thirty-one works. Unmarked with moderate wear. 23 x 15cm. Lerner & Williamson 1747 Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Group of Seven, Tom Thomson, Franz Johnston, F.H. Varley, A.Y. Jackson, Lawren Harris, Arthur Lismer, J.E.H. MacDonald, Frank Carmichael, Lionel Fitzgerald, Edwin Holgate (illustrator). Stapled Booklet.

ALL FIRST EDITIONS. Seven separately published volumes. All in original publisher's bindings, as issued (see below). Lighter than Air Craft with eight wood engravings by Barnard Taylor; "Sonnets" with seven wood engravings in the text by Barnard Taylor; "The Myth of Dark and Light" with six linoleum block prints, each in a different color, by Alice Wand. ALL SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR, SOME WITH ADDITIONAL PERSONAL INSCRIPTIONS (see below). Nothing for Tigers with light marginal dampstains; all other volumes internally pristine and with only the most trivial defects to the bindings (see below). American poet Hayden Carruth (1921-2008) was the author of more than 30 works and the recipient of numerous awards, including the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the Lannan Literary Award. As noted by the Poetry Foundation, Carruth's writing is "characterized by a calm, tightly controlled, and relatively 'plain' language that belies the intensity of feeling behind the words." The present seven works, offered as a group, represent more than 30 years of his long literary career. The poetry in these volumes is both gritty and playful, inspired by nature, country living, and jazz, as well as Carruth's own personal experiences and struggles with alcoholism, anxiety, and abandonment. As indicated by the inscriptions given below, these works all come from the collection of Laure-Anne Bosselaar (b. 1943) and her husband Kurt Brown (1944-2013). Bosselaar is a Belgian-American poet, translator, and editor who has published numerous works of poetry in multiple languages, including five collections of her own works. She has been given various prizes and recognitions (Pushcart, Isabella Gardner, Breadloaf) and was named Poet Laureate of Santa Barbara in 2019. Sometimes publishing jointly with Bosselaar, Brown was also a prolific poet and editor of anthologies, as well as the founder of the Aspen Writer's Conference, playing a pivotal role in shaping its early vision and establishing Aspen as a literary center. Hayden Carruth and his poet wifeJoe-Anne McLaughlin Carruthwere good friends of Bosselaar and Brown, and the couples would spend time together when visiting their respective cities.Joe-Anne and Bosselaar also gave readings together in the late 1990s and early 2000s. 1) NOTHING FOR TIGERS. Just a bit of shelf wear; dampstain to the upper margin of first and last 10 leaves, small stain to fore-edge of last eight leaves, still an excellent copy, very fresh and bright. 2) FOR YOU.
