Has a text written by Onslow Ford: 'Siurrealist Paintings: Adventures into Human Consciousness' New School Lectures, January-March 1941 together with colour reproductions. Also included, loosely inserted is an exhibition preview notification with a handwritten note to Jennifer Mundy from Francis Naumann. Gordon Onslow Ford was one of the last surviving members of the 1930s Paris surrealist group surrounding AndrÈ Breton.

Dean of the Chouinard Art Institute (1960-64), Director of the San Francisco Museum of Art (now SFMoMA (1966-73), Milwaukee Art Museum (1977-85), and the UCLA Wight Art Gallery (1973-77). He is the author of over 60 publications, including books on Lachaise, Nakian, Diebenkorn and Frank Lloyd Wright.

Gordon Onslow-Ford was one of the last surviving members of the 1930s Paris surrealist group surrounding AndrÈ Breton. Born in the English town of Wendover in 1912 to a family of artists, Onslow Ford began painting at an early age. His grandfather, Edward Onslow Ford, was a Victorian sculptor. At the age of 11, he began painting landscapes under the guidance of his uncle. Following the death of his father at age 14, he was sent to the Royal Naval College at Dartmouth. The ocean affected him deeply and his early works depicted ocean scenes. The metaphor of taking a "voyage" later became an important aspect of his paintings. Essays include: 'Welcome to a New Concept of Being'.
