Juni 1953 in Avignon) war ein französischer Maler und Schriftsteller. Gleizes, ein Neffe des Malers Léon Comerre, hatte eine Ausbildung als technischer Zeichner, war ein Mitbegründer des Salon d'Automne und Mitglied der Section d'Or und gilt als Vertreter des Kubismus. Seine malerischen Arbeiten untermauerte er durch die Veröffentlichung mehrerer kunsthistorischer und kunstwissenschaftlicher Schriften. Zusammen mit Jean Metzinger verfasste er beispielsweise die Abhandlung Du Cubisme" im Jahr 1912 und verwendete damit erstmals den wertfreien Begriff Kubismus". Während des Ersten Weltkriegs lebte er ab Ende 1915 in den USA. Gleizes gründete 1927 die Handwerkergemeinschaft Moly-Sabata, schuf Wandbilder für die Pariser Weltausstellung 1937 und erhielt 1951 den Grand Prix auf der französischen Biennale in Menton. 1937 wurden in der Nazi-Aktion Entartete Kunst" fünf seiner Arbeiten aus dem Schlesisches Museum der Bildenden Künste Breslau, den Kunstsammlungen der Universität Göttingen, dem Provinzial-Museum Hannover, dem Stadtmuseum Ulm und dem Schlossmuseum Weimar beschlagnahmt.
