Notations in manuscript red ink and pencil throughout, at Earle's speaking parts as "Grandm…a." Merie Earle was a solid fixture on the television series "The Waltons" (1972-1979), as "Maude Gormley." Based on Ben Hecht's 1963 book, about a young writer (Bridges) caught in political corruption in Chicago, early 1900s. A grand cinematic tale, nominated for art direction, costume design, and sound. Margot Kidder (Lois Lane of "Superman," 1978) got her Hollywood start with this film, as a prostitute who deflowers Bridges. Goldenrod titled wrappers, noted as FINAL DRAFT on the front wrapper, rubber-stamped copy No. 167, dated May 8, 1968, with credits for producer-director Jewison.
