The caste system, a social hierarchy deeply rooted in Hinduism, traditionally divides society into four main varnas: Brahmins (priests), Kshatriyas (warriors), Vaishyas (traders), and Shudras (labourers), with Dalits (formerly "untouchables") excluded from this hierarchy.
