Hierzu wird zunächst der historische Kontext bis 1967 dargestellt, um die strukturellen Bedingungen zu erfassen, unter denen Israel seine sicherheitspolitischen Grundprinzipien entwickelte. Im Anschluss wird der Sechstagekrieg als sicherheitspolitischer Wendepunkt analysiert. Die Darstellung der Eskalationsdynamiken, der Entscheidung zum Präventivschlag und des Kriegsverlaufs bildet die Grundlage für das Verständnis der sicherheitspolitischen Konsequenzen und Leitprinzipien, die Israel daraus ableitete. Darauf aufbauend folgt eine ethisch-völkerrechtliche Bewertung, die die Spannung zwischen sicherheitspolitischer Notwendigkeit und rechtlicher Normbindung kritisch beleuchtet. Ziel der Arbeit ist es, die Komplexität staatlicher Entscheidungsprozesse unter existenzieller Bedrohung herauszuarbeiten und zu zeigen, dass Sicherheitspolitik stets zwischen historisch bedingter Notwendigkeit, strategischer Rationalität und normativer Verantwortung vermittelt. Der Fall Israels im Jahr 1967 dient dabei als exemplarisches Fallbeispiel, das grundlegende Fragen nach den Grenzen staatlichen Handelns im internationalen System aufwirft.
