La 18 ani se indragosteste de dirijorul director al Filarmonicii si al Operei Romane la acea vreme George Georgescu. In ciuda diferentei mari de varsta, de 25 de ani, cei doi se casatoresc in 1933, nasi fiindu-le I.G. Duca si sotia acestuia. Tutu calatoreste pretutindeni in lume cu prilejul concertelor sotului ei, Maestrul, cum il numeste; cunoaste numeroase personalitati artistice si politice, iar odata cu venirea comunistilor la putere vede cum este anihilata treptat o intreaga mostenire culturala. La varsta de 90 de ani, cu sinceritatea celui care nu mai are nimic de pierdut, isi dicteaza amintirile unui casetofon, intr-un puzzle de o prospetime si o culoare a rememorarii fara egal. Tutu Oroveanu a facut prin nastere parte din aristocratia romaneasca si a fost una dintre marile frumuseti ale Bucurestiului interbelic. Prima parte a vietii ei a stat sub o zodie fericita, lipsita de griji. Apar in paginile cartii, intre altii, Octavian Goga, Grigore Gafencu, I.G. Duca, C. Tutu si familia ei au parte de umilinte si teroare, de tragedii: Constantin Busila, tatal adoptiv, e arestat in toamna lui 1944 si, dupa cinci ani, moare in inchisoarea de la Aiud, proprietatile le sunt confiscate, si agoniseala de o viata furata, maestrul Georgescu e epurat de la Filarmonica pentru cativa ani. Dupa revenirea lui la pupitru, casa Georgescu devine un adapost pentru rudele ramase fara mijloace de subzistenta, iar maestrul si sotia lui ajuta o multime de prieteni persecutati Dupa ce termini cartea, ai impresia ca ai ascultat confidentele unui prieten.
