Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Fair. First Edition Thus. Duodecimo, 420 pages, full calf, shaken, waterstained; offered "as is". Gavin claimed to be a Spanish priest when he arrived in England in 1715. His anti-Catholic expose appeared at Dublin in 1724. It is also a remarkable account of adventure, and autobiography, and "true confessions". Gavin later emigrated to the Virginia Colony where he served as an Anglican priest. His widow, Rachael Gavin, presented a copy of THE MASTER-KEY OF POPERY to fellow Virginian, Thomas Jefferson [ Sowerby ]. The last section, THE PRESERVATIVE AGAINST POPERY, was by Rev. Joseph Blanco White, formerly the Chaplain to the King of Spain, who joined the Church of England as a priest, but was also a published poet.

The back I BOMB NY logo is by the Bernadette Corporation. Looking back though, it is interesting how certain mainstream politicians have taken all our avant-garde strategies, DADA, Punk, Fiction, Surrealism, Performance, Wigs, even FAKE NEWS (homage: Yves Klein), squeezed the dear soul out of them, and weaponized them for their delinquent purposes. If that is really the case of our times, then what is the role of an artist today? Discuss." -- Artist's statement Very Good / Fine. Light yellowing of covers, light bumping of bottom edge and slight curl to spine. Otherwise clean and unmarked. Aprox 280 pages of full color images, interviews, musings etc, in flexi boards. This copy is generally excellent, with solid, tight binding. Bright clean interior - no marks at all.
