Softcover. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. Limited. 183 pages (complete). Hand-numbered 793 of a limited edition of 900 copies. A stunning, shiveringly beautiful book for those interested in printing and books. The book has a clear cellophane protective cover. Stiff card covers with paper dustjacket. All are in wondrous condition. The contents were printed on Sommerville Laid and Zerkall Halbmatt papers. The wood engravings were printed from the wood, and the line blocks were made by Keene Engraving. The contents are able to make one gasp with pleasure. They are hand-pressed, the illustrations and other devices are tipped-in. The pages are gorgeous, creamy, thick, luxuriant in their elegance, very clean and very - as if brand new throughout. Kreft; original stiff cherry wrappers printed in silver; fine in original plexiglas slipcase. A retrospective, of sorts, of Gallo's work over 60 years. "A number of these poems were printed on 5x7-inch cards and sent to friends of the press. The Printer, however, being of a dilatory nature, sent out so few he feels it not unwarranted to call them new, 'Qfwfq' notwithstanding, and to include them in this new book." Twenty or so separate items, for lack of a better word, composed, designed, illustrated, and printed by one of the finest printers alive today.

245 x 143 mm. (9 3/4 x 5 5/8"). [20] leaves. Original card covers wrapped in a shiny orange chemise, upper wrapper with title printed in dark orange. Printed in color throughout. âIn mint condition. An alchemy of typography, color, words, and design, this is an impeccably printed work that plays on the word "allotropes"--a term used in chemistry that refers to the different states a particular element may take (such as graphite and diamond for carbon). As we admire the vibrant color combinations juxtaposed with shifting letter forms, the printer also invites us to consider the science and experimentation inherent to this work, using diagrams, chemical notations, and images that look as if they were taken from under a microscope to provoke our imaginations. The shimmering paper on which the text is printed here and especially the glistening orange cover make a very pleasing impression. The poet/artist/typographer/printer Phillip Gallo has been printing concrete and visual poetry since he founded his Hermetic Press in 1965. His books are in important collections around the world, including in the Museum of Modern Art and the Walker Art Center. COPY "G" OF 26 LETTERED COPIES on 125 gsm Stardream paper (and five copies on 110 gsm Plike paper).
