Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - This book is Jael Uribe's voice at its most honest and human. (Bilingual Edition).(Includes the winning poem of the 2017 Vicente Rodríguez-Nietzsche Prize from the Puerto Rico International Poetry Festival). There are books that come from a war that no one names. 'My mother's hands' does not seek to offer easy comfort, but the honesty of looking directly at the open wound that made us more human and less gullible. This poetry book is the voice of Jael Uribe in its rawest and most human form. We grew up looking at affection out of the corner of our eyes, expecting the blow behind every embrace. We learned to read silence before words and to call strength what was, in reality, pure survival. In these pages, Jael Uribe gathers poems about mothers and children, about the love that sometimes hurts more than it consoles, and about the battles carried inside without anyone seeing them. These are verses written from rage and tenderness, a reflection of everything that remains when something that was supposed to be unbreakable is broken. An invitation to recognize your own wound to, perhaps, begin to understand it.

From Death to Phoenix), is Jael Uribe first book, it compiles in over 180 pages her poetry up to 2014, it was published by the Ministry of Culture in Dominican Republic and the General Direction of the Santo Domingo Book Fair in December 2016.
