The work is mostly black and white, and the body of 30 years work shown here are all photographs of exterior urban or semi-built environments in various states of decay. The exhibition consists of several individual but interrelated elements. The dragon - the most important of four heavenly creatures in Chinese mythology and one of the most widely and variously used Chinese symbols - is a figure that recurs throughout this exhibition project. It appears in different shapes, indoors and well as outdoors. Most spectacularly, there is a gigantic flying kite, in the shape of a dragon, from the lawn of the museumÆs sculpture park. Before the dragon kite is launched, it is fitted with gunpowder, which at a given time is ignited and explodes, transforming the dragon into a crackling, fire-breathing creature. A portfolio of sixteen separate photos from the Qiang exhibit accompany this book. , Danish/ English, Year1997, Illust. B/W10, Illust. Color16, ISBN 8790029178, Code 3039. The aim of this exhibition organized by the Nordic Art Centre is to present works by photographers who choose the human body as their point of departure for exploring questions of gender, sexual identity, life and death. The bodies in these photographs become both a battlefield and a refuge--an expression of political opposition and a source of fantasy and dreams. This book contains sexually explicit material and is not suitable for children., English/ Finnish/ Danish, Year1995, Illust. B/W61, Illust. Color43, ISBN 9518955514, Code 1801.
