The book was published as No. 75 in Jonathan Cape's 'Florin Books' series, published at two shillings (2/-) or a Florin. ***Near fine in textured oatmeal cloth-covered boards with brown titles to the spine and front board. The boards are clean and unmarked. No creases or bumps. Corners sharp. Very slight reading lean to the binding, but no reading creases to the spine. Page block edges clean. Internally also near fine with no inscriptions. The paper used is quite thin, but there is virtually no creasing. Pages clean. No creases or tears. ***In a very good printed dustwrapper, which has not been price-clipped, retaining the original publisher's printed price of 2s. net. The dustwrapper is complete, with just some light edge wear at the top edge. There is some light creasing also to the top edges and a small closed tear at the top edge of the back panel near the foldover flap. No chips and no serious creases or tears. Shaw, a UK naval officer who served in World War I, is known for his stories with nautical themes. He also published stories as Frank Cleveland, Archibald Guthrie, Grenville Hammerton, Frank Hubert, and Ernest Winchfield. His works appeared widely in early twentieth century Boys' Papers- his contributions reaching close to 7,000 stories and 70 or so books. Some of his publications included science fiction elements including "The Prehistoric Terror", "The Swoop of the Eagle: A Great Story of the Motherland's Dire Peril", and "Outlaws of the Air.".

Larger format 8vo. 9¾'' x 6¼''. Final monthly issue of 'Journal of the Air Forces - Eastern Front - Volume 3 No. 9 September 1945. Among others includes first title of 'Early One Morning' - two page article by Squadron Leader H. E. Bates written especially for this Journal. So he plagiarised own title in 1960's knowing no one would have remembered this his first?, not to be confused with the 1963 story of the same name which appeared in the collection 'The Wedding Party' and 'Woman's Own - The National Women's Weekly', August 3, 1963, not in Eads. Prepared under usual Top Secrecy during August, but released just after Japanese surrender signed and everyone scampering back home. Contains 44 pp including a number stories of combatant's personal experience and monochrome photographs - probably unique to this journal. In Very Good condition, no dust wrapper as issued. Member of the P.B.F.A. ROYAL AIR FORCE (RAF).
