Before long, she's navigating a haunted department store that exists out of time and space, giving dating advice to the lord of the underworld, dodging Russian mobsters and Toronto raccoons, and staging acoustic battles of the bands. All while in a broken pair of heels, just trying to hail a ride--or even find a working pay phone--before the hussy across the hall makes a play for her boyfriend Dylan's affections (and home-cooked meal).…

Softcover / Paperback . Zustand: Sehr gut. 88 Seiten / Pages , Text / Sprache: Englisch , Zustand: geringe Gebrauchs- u. Lagerspuren, sehr gutes Exemplar. Mono-perspective views of multi-perspectivity : Information systems modeling and The blind men and the elephant (Acta Wexionensia; No. 87/2006) , The exemplary story of `The blind men and the elephant` is used as a pedagogic illustration for mono- and multi-perspectivity. In Chapter 0, two starting points for the discussion of this epistemological phenomenon are introduced: the view of computer science / information systems and the view of literary studies with its description framework. Chapter 1 presents the versions from different cultural contexts in different eras. Chapter 2 discusses and evaluates their epistemological implications and deals with the generalization and application of this exemplary story to epistemological questions in general. Chapter 3 applies it to information systems modeling in particular. The aspects of multiple mono-perspectivity and conflicting partial models in information systems modeling are analyzed and approaches to a well-reasoned and conscious treatment of their integration and harmonization are demonstrated. The main result is that the problem of inconsistencies between different perspectives (partial models) of an enterprise cannot be solved, but the model designers` awareness is the best method to avoid undesired consequences. 6-11 ISBN 917636500X Aufgrund der EU-Verpackungsverordnung (PPWR) erfolgt der Versand nur nach Deutschland und ins Nicht-EU-Ausland. Buch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Past progress and future challenges R.J. Wheater Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, Edinburgh, UK. In the past two decades much has been achieved in the sphere of breeding endangered species, and we should be pleased that our co operative efforts have already borne so much fruit. However, on balance and despite the best efforts of conservationists, the position of wildlife in the wild places where they are best conserved has become worse, often dramatically worse. Before returning to the United Kingdom in 1972, I was in Uganda for 16 years, most of which time was spent as Chief Warden of Murchison Falls National Park. Our main problem was that an over-population of large mammals was having a devastating impact on the habitat. Devas tation was being wrought on woodland areas by the arrival of large numbers of elephants into the sanctuary of the Park, following changes in land use in the areas outside the Park. These changes were in response to the requirements of an ever-expanding human population.…
